Sometimes our Edinburgh and London rug repair clients come to us with Persian or Oriental carpets and rugs that are so badly damaged, worn or threadbare that they believe they are beyond repair…and they are usually wrong! We can bring almost any Persian or Oriental Carpet or rug back to life – regardless of the level of damage or wear.
We have a lovely client who came to us with a stunning antique Mahal carpet which had extensive damage to the fringes, sides and holes/tears in the pile. As you can see from the image we are currently in the process of rebuilding extensive areas of the foundations – we build a hand loom to re-pile the foundation. We applied brand new wools to the cotton warp and weft that we have reconstructed. Each Persian knot must be carefully re-woven, matching the wool colour and repairing the piece to match the exact design as original.
